The Virginian Pilot Saturday March 9, 1957
NORFOLK - J. Laughton Hawkins, 55, former resident of Norfolk, died Thursday 
at 3 p.m. in a Baltimore hospital after an illness of two months.
A native of Kinston, N.C., he had lived in Baltimore the last 10 years. He was 
a son of the late James L. and Mrs. Sarah Thigpen Hawkins.
Surviving are two children and seven grandchildren.
The body will be forwarded to the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley where funeral 
services will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia 
Cemetery.
