Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, September 22, 1992 
Emma L. Hawkins of the 1700 block of Campostella Road, a retired domestic
worker, died Sept. 20, 1992, in a hospital.

Mrs. Hawkins was born in Suffolk. She was a member of First Baptist Church
Campostella. She was the widow of George Hawkins Sr.

Survivors include five daughters, Henrietta Hawkins of Norfolk, Phyllis McDuffie
of Paterson, N.J., Evelyn Morris and Barbara Hawkins, both of Riverhead, N.Y.,
and Gwendolyn Hawkins of Suitland, Md.; three sons, George Hawkins Jr. of
Virginia Beach, William Hawkins of Norfolk and Larry Hawkins of Suitland; two
sisters, Maggie Matthews and Julia Knowles, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a
brother, Joseph Lawrence of Fort Lauderdale; 12 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in First Baptist Church
Campostella by the Rev. Harold P. Cason. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
Friends may join the family at 1710 Vernon Drive. A wake service will be from 6
to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Graves Funeral Home. The body will be placed in church at
10 a.m. Thursday.
