JAMES W. HAWKINS, of Portsmouth, died Monday in a Portsmouth hospital.  He was a 
son of the late James W. and Mrs. Alice Miles Hawkins.

The Petersburg native lived in Portsmouth six months.

He is survived by a niece, Mrs. Maria Martini.

Private funeral, arranged by Foster Funeral Home, will be held Thursday in St. 
Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk.

The family has said that expressions of sympathy may take the form of 
contributions to the Heart Fund.
