Norfolk Virginian Friday May 5, 1893

Mr. James Hawkins, a well known young man, died at his residence, on Montalant 
Avenue, about 11 o'clock on Wednesday night after a lingering illness of 
consumption.  Mr. Hawkins had been employed for a number of years at the Norfolk 
and Southern shops.  He was about 32 years old and had been married but a few 
months.

The funeral of Mr. James Hawkins was held from his late residence, on Montalant 
Avenue, yesterday morning.  Services were held at Baptist Church and interment 
was made in Magnolia Cemetery.  The pallbearers were: Messrs. Gwynn, T.C. 
Humphries, P.M. Humphries, J.W. Parker, Lewellyn Eley and W.H. Allman.
