Funeral services for Mrs. Evie Hall Hawks, of 2918 Virginia Beach boulevard, a 
native of Nansemond county who lived in Norfolk more than 50 years, were held 
Sunday at New Calvary Baptist Church.

The eulogy was delivered by the pastor, Elder Samuel A. Wilson.  Interment was 
in Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Riddick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hawks died Nov. 4, in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness.  She was the 
daughter of the late Daniel and Mrs. Margaret Hall, and the widow of S. B. 
Hawks.

A member of Miriam Tent no. 33 of the United Order of Tents, she was secretary 
of the organization more than 16 years.  She also was a member of New Calvary 
Baptist church, where she taught Sunday school several years.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Louise H. Madison, principal of 
Gatewood school;  Mrs. Emma Jackson of Gary IN, formerly a Norfolk school 
teacher;  and Miss Effie Hawks of New York City;  one foster son, Rufus Francis 
of Norfolk;  three brothers, James E. Hall Jr., of Baltimore, Daniel Hall of 
Chuckatuck, VA and Sylvester Hall of Suffolk VA;  six grandchildren, two great 
grandchildren and other relatives.
