The eulogy was delivered by the pastor, Elder Samuel A. Wilson. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Riddick Funeral Home. Mrs. Hawks died Nov. 4, in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mrs. Margaret Hall, and the widow of S. B. Hawks. A member of Miriam Tent no. 33 of the United Order of Tents, she was secretary of the organization more than 16 years. She also was a member of New Calvary Baptist church, where she taught Sunday school several years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Louise H. Madison, principal of Gatewood school; Mrs. Emma Jackson of Gary IN, formerly a Norfolk school teacher; and Miss Effie Hawks of New York City; one foster son, Rufus Francis of Norfolk; three brothers, James E. Hall Jr., of Baltimore, Daniel Hall of Chuckatuck, VA and Sylvester Hall of Suffolk VA; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and other relatives.
