Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, October 8, 1998 
Carlvet W. Hayes of the 2300 block of Barraud Ave., died Oct. 6, 1998.

Born in Henderson, N.C., he lived most of his life in Norfolk. He was
predeceased by his wife, Emily M. Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a member of Queen Street
Baptist Church, Norfolk, where he was a member of the Male Usher Board. He was a
retired Norfolk sheriff and a retired truck driver after 25 years of service.

Survivors include two sisters, Minnie Hayes Parker of Pennsylvania and Shirley
Hayes Cromiter of Norfolk; seven sons; four daughters and their children; one
stepdaughter and her son; a goddaughter and her sons; nieces, nephew, cousins
and other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Queen Street Baptist Church by
Pastor Peter Wherry. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery . Hale Funeral
Home is in charge.
