Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, December 19, 2003 
Joyce Marie Haynes, 54, of 825 Goff St., passed Dec. 15, 2003, at home. Joyce
was born Feb. 27, 1949, in Norfolk to the late Emma Bright and Israel Wood. She
was educated in the Norfolk public school system and worked for DePaul Hospital
for six years as a nurses aide. Joyce was a member of First Pentecostal United
Holy Church where she served on the Usher Board.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Janette Monroe of Norfolk; two
sons, Perry Monroe and Kevin Stacy, both of Norfolk; one sister, Beverly Bright
Jones of Norfolk; one brother, Otis Wood of Fort Washington, Md.; four
grandchildren, Darren Monroe, Arkai Monroe, Christopher Hankin Jr. and Alexis
Andrew Stacy, all of Norfolk; a special friend and sister in the Lord, Shirley
Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends. Joyce was predeceased by her
husband, Leroy Haynes and a daughter, Valerie Monroe.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Pentecostal United Holy
Church, 1434 Wilson Road, Dr. A. Ray Rouson, officiating. Interment will be at
Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family will receive friends at 842 Charlotte St.
where they will also assemble one hour prior to the service for procession to
