Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Haywood, 906 Denhart Street who died at Ocean 
View, Monday, July 10, were held from St. John A.M.E. Church, Sunday, July 16, 
with the Revs. J. A. Young officiating assisted by the Rev. A. L. Scruggs, and 
the Rev. Mr. Hamilton of Shiloh Baptist Church.  Mrs. Haywood had held membership 
in St. John A.M.E. Church for 51 years.  Solos were sung by little Vivian 
Holloway, and Misses Anna Davis and Pauline Langley.  Daughters of Norfolk and 
Courts of Calanthe attended.  The floral tributes were many and beautiful.  
Surviving are her husband, Joseph E. Haywood, one daughter, four nieces, one 
nephew and other relatives and friends.  Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
