Heatherton, 32 years old, died at 10:15 o’clock last night at his home, 814 Granby street. About a year after the civil court of Norfolk was established, Mr. Heatherton was appointed its clerk. He resigned December 14, 1917, to enlist in the United States Army as a private in the engineer corps, stationed at Norfolk, and was soon afterwards made a sergeant. He had many friends in Norfolk, where he had lived all of his life, and especially in official circles of the city. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Kate Heatherton, and brother, George A. Heatherton, who succeeded him as civil court clerk. The deceased was an active member of the Norfolk Lodge of Elks. Funeral arrangements are yet to be made. Funeral services for William J.
Heatherton were held yesterday
 morning with military honors at the
 residence on Granby street, Rev. T.
E. Waters officiating. Interment was
in St. Mary’s cemetery, the honorary 
pallbearers being Judge J. U. Goode, 
James V. Trehy, Henry Bowden,
