Heck Lingered Since July 18 After Receiving Burns From 2, 300 Volts Floyd D. Heck, a Traction lineman, who was shocked on the 18th of last month while at work at the top of an electric light pole, at the corner of Liberty and Thirteenth Street, died at the Lawford hospital yesterday morning at 11:45 o'clock after making a long and brave fight for life. His neck was burned to the spinal column and the bone scorched by the terrific current that the wire was charged with at the time. There were 2,300 volts in the wire. He was also burned on the left hip almost to the bone and along the leg to the knee and received several other minor burns. After he received the first shock which rendered him unconscious he fell over on the wires and that accounts for his burns being so numerous. His athletic build and strength and unusual vitality kept him alive. He had been married to a Norfolk girl only six months when the accident occurred. He was twenty-six years old. The remains were turned over to Funeral Director Smith for burial which will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The service will be conducted from the funeral apartments of Mr. Smith in Bank Street. The deceased had been living in Norfolk fourteen years and at the time of the accident lived in East Brambleton Avenue. ***************************************************************************** The funeral of Floyd D.
