She and several other children had been watching a new neighbor’s furniture being unloaded from a moving van. The accident occurred in front of the victim’s home. State Trooper R. F. Coffelt identified the driver of the truck as Walter Jerome Butts, 39, Negro, of 1752 Queen City Road, Norfolk County. The trooper said the mishap occurred after Butts stopped to chat with a friend who was working in the moving van. Coffelt quoted the driver as saying he started his truck and, as he moved away in low gear, felt a thump. He looked back, said Coffelt, to see his friend cover his head in horror. Butts stopped his truck and alighted, to find that the child had run into the truck’s side, causing her to suffer a skull fracture. She died shortly after she was taken to De Paul Hospital. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Heiberg, of Brooklyn, N. Y. The body was taken to the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.
