Norfolk - Howard F. Hemmerich, 82, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017. A 
native of Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Howard and Carolyn Hemmerich. 
He came to Norfolk in December of 1955 while in the U. S. Navy. Howard was 
employed for 12 years at Norfolk Wholesale Floral Corporation. In 1971 he and his 
partner, Charles F. Warburton bought Norfolk Florist, which they ran until 1986, 
at the passing of Charles. Howard then went to work at Sunflower Florist until his 
passing.

He was a devoted Catholic and a member of The Basilica of Saint Mary of the 
Immaculate Conception and was a proud member of their Gospel Choir. He was 
preceded in death by his life partner, James Woodberry and is survived by his 
sister-in-law, Karen Woodberry, and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 on Friday, September 22nd at The 
Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 232 Chapel St., Norfolk, with 
Father James Curran officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic 
Cemetery Mausoleum. Online condolences may be offered to the family through
