Norfolk Journal and Guide, Apr 27,1963
Norfolk - William Hemphill, of 1520 W. 41st street, who died April 18, 
received final rites Tuesday at St. Mark's RZUA Church.

The Rev. Oliver J. Allen officiated at the service. Burial was in Calvary 
Cemetery under direction of Hale Funeral Home.

An usher at St. Mark's and a member of St. Luke's lodge, Mr. Hemphill was a 
native of Chester, SC.

His survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Laura Moffat of Rock Hill SC; a son, 
Steven Hemphill of Charlotte, NC; and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Williams of 
Chester, Mrs. Lottie Steele of Charlotte, Mrs. Mary Crosby and Mrs. Ella 
Hemphill of Norfolk.
