Princess Anne Road, a businesswoman, died Dec. 24, 1993, in Lafayette Villa Health Care Center, Norfolk. Mrs. Henderson, a native of Ivor, Va., was a pioneering businesswoman who founded her own independent business in the early 1950s, S & H Cleaners, which specialized in the cleaning, tailoring and repair of clothing. She successfully operated this full-service enterprise for over 30 years in the historic Church Street district of Norfolk. Prior to the opening of her own business, she began her long career in the tailoring industry in the 1930s at Sam Finkelstein and Company, rising to supervisory appointments. She was the daughter of the late John Eddie and Rosa Belle Johnson and the wife of the late John Henry Henderson. Mrs. Henderson was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church of Norfolk where she actively participated beginning in her teenage years. She was a productive member of St. Paul's Sunday School for over 50 years, serving as a teacher for a number of years. She was also an energetic member of Stewardess Board Number Two, the Missionary Society and the Progressive Club, for which she served as president. Throughout her years of service, Mrs. Henderson worked diligently to support the development and success of the programs and initiatives of the church. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Elsie J. Russell, Mrs. Lorraine J. Stephens and Mrs. Rosalyn J. Credle; two brothers, William C. and J. Howard Johnson; five nieces, three nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul C.M.E. Church, 310 E. Virignia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, by the Rev. T.R. McKenney. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends at the residence of Rasalyn J. Credle, Whittier Drive, Norfolk. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
