HARDY HENDREN JR. W. Hardy Hendren Jr., 81, of 5049 Wornall, former president of the United Film Service, died Saturday at a hospital in Boston. Mr. Hendren had been president of the firm from 1933 until he retired in 1962. He had attended Woodbury Forest prep school in Orange, Va., and graduated from the University of Virginia with an engineering degree in 1922. Mr. Hendren had formerly been a director of St. Luke's Hospital about 20 years. He was a member of the Friends of Art and the Society of Fellows at the Nelson gallery of Art. He was a member of the Kansas City Country Club, the University Club and the Mercury Club. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War I. He was born in Norfolk, Va., and had lived in New Orleans before moving to Kansas City in 1933. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he was treasurer and senior warden of the church vestry. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Margaret McLeod Hendren of the home; a son, Dr. W. Hardy Hendren III, Boston; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard V. Lombardi, Denver, and Mrs. M. Bruce Robb Jr., Kansas City; a sister, Mrs. John A Mason, Winter Park Fla.; and 11 grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the church or to charity.
