She was a native of Norfolk, and was the daughter of the late William Whitehurst and Hattie Whitehurst-Hart. She was the widow of George D. Hendricks, and a member of St. John A.M.E. Church and Female Usher Board No. 2. Survivors include a devoted niece, Viola Alston-Pinnex ``Alvis'' of Chesapeake; and nephews, James ``Bud'' Ashe of Norfolk and Vincent A. Ashe of Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday in St. John's A.M.E. Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Larry Hinton. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Graves Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The family will assemble at 2300 Tapscott Ave., Chesapeake.
