HENLEY Veteran Assistant Clerk of Virginia Senate and Widely Known Politician and Fraternal Man Dies Suddenly At His Home FUNERAL AND BURIAL TOMORROW AFTERNOON James E. Henley, for many years assistant chief clerk of the State Senate and for the past several years in charge of the local distributing office for State automobile license plates, died suddenly at his home 2700 Marlboro avenue, Chesterfield Heights, yesterday morning at 4:30 o'clock. He was 66 years old. Mr. Henley was stricken with a heart attack shortly after midnight and failed to rally Long prominent in local and State politics, Mr. Henley was widely known in this section, and news of his death has come as a shock to his many friends. Mr. Henley was a member of Ruth Lodge No. 89 and John Walters Chapter No. 68, A.F. & A.M.; Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O.E.;Norfolk Lodge No. 32, I.O.O.F.; Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, No. 456 and Norfolk Aerie No. 163 Fraternal Order of Eagles. A native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, Mr. Henley was the son of the late James and Mrs. Mathina Quick Henley. Besides his wife, Mrs. Carlotta P. Henley, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. W.E. Coley; one son, Capt. R.C. Henley II; one sister, Mrs. J.A. Winslow,; one brother, Capt R.C. Henley and three grandchildren, Robert and Edwin Coley and Jane Henley. Funeral services for Mr. Henley will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence by the Rev. William E. Callender, rector of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and the Rev. L.M. Ellis, pastor of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
