Virginian-Pilot April 25, 1946
Mrs. Ella Allen Henley, 59, widow of Robert L. Henley, died at a local hospital 
yesterday afternoon at 3:35 o'clock. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. 
William Harrison and Mrs. Edna M. Evans; two sons, H. E. and B. H. Allen, all of 
Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. I. L. Cadoza, of Newport News; four brothers, Lewis 
Hanowell, of New York; Edward Hanowell, of Richmond; Fred Hanowell, of 
Washington, D.C., and Charles Hanowell, of Newport News; a stepson, George L. 
Henley, of Norfolk; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Henley 
was a native of White Plains, N.Y., and had been a resident of Norfolk for 50 
years. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Temple.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
