Furlong Heppel, 76, widow of George Michael Heppel and daughter of the late William and Mrs. Elizabeth Wood Furlong, died at a local hospital yesterday at 4:20 a.m. A native of St. Johns, New Brunswick, she had resided in Norfolk 60 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin of that church. Surviving are six nieces, Mrs. W. A. Simpson, of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Herman Brown, of Virginia Beach; Mrs. Bert Haddock, of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Theresa Sherry; Miss Marguerite Brennan and Mrs. Jacob Versprille, all of Norfolk; four nephews, John T. Callahan, of Norfolk; William P. Brennan, of Charlotte, N.C.; James N. Brennan, of Norfolk, and Herbert J. Brennan, of Richmond, Va.; a number of great-nieces and -nephews, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. George M. Bain, of Norfolk. The body will be taken from the residence, 265 East Fortieth street, to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for funeral services Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the residence tonight at 6:30 o’clock.
