Norfolk Virginian Pilot June 28, 1938

James Henry Herbert, aged 55, husband of Mrs. Etta Armistead Herbert, died 
at the residence, 1301 West Ocean View avenue, yesterday afternoon at 1:15 
o'clock.  Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. R.S. 
Musick, Mrs. H.S. Thompson and Mrs. A.L. Kelly, all of Washington; four 
sons, Loudoun C. and Frank G. Herbert, both of Washington and Douglas K. and 
James H. Herbert, Jr., both of Norfolk; a stepdaughter, Mrs. S.D. Brown, Jr. 
and a stepson, Armistead H. Bradley, both of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Samuel 
Chattam, of Westmoreland County; five brothers, Richard, Howard, William and 
Roger Herbert, all of Westmoreland and Webster Herbert, of Washington, and 
nine grandchildren.  Mr. Herbert was a native of St. Mary's County, Md. and 
had been a resident of Norfolk for 20 years.  He was a member of Colonial 
Avenue Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home 
tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
