Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 12, 1939

Mrs. Frances Paxson Hermance, age 67 years, widow of William Ellsworth Hermance, 
and daughter of the late Joseph P. and Mrs. Frances Jane Wynkoop Paxson, died at 
10:30 o'clock Sunday night at the residence, at Oaklette, Norfolk County. Mrs. 
Hermance was a native of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., and had been a resident of this 
section for the past 53 years. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Idah 
Hermance Wood and Mrs. Rose H. Gaither, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. 
E.A. Benton, of Trotville, N.C., one brother, A.Y. Paxson, and a number of 
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Oaklette Methodist Church, tomorrow afternoon 
at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
