Joseph W. Hernandez Sr., 75, of Norfolk, died December 3, 2005. Preceded in death 
by three children, Mark Anthony Hernandez, Joseph Wayne Hernandez II and Regina 
Michelle Hernandez, he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lenora Faith 
Hernandez; nine children, Belinda Marie Parkins, Lenora Lea McKee, Michael Joseph 
Hernandez, Mary Elaine Rodriguez, Valerie Ann McGinty, Stephen Anthony Hernandez, 
John Christopher Hernandez, Cecelia Annette Breeden, and Elizabeth Ann Hernandez; 
34 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Hernandez 
Maloney and Jean Waddell; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hernandez was a 
member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk and retired after 30 years of 
service from the U.S. Postal Service as director of finance. The family will 
receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, at the Bliley Funeral Homes’ 
Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 
celebrated 12 noon Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment 
Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk, Va. In lieu of flowers, 
contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude 
Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
