Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, July 5, 1998 
Lucy L. Herndon of the 3100 block of Chesapeake Blvd., died June 30, 1998. She
died peacefully and quietly in her home.

Born in Henderson, N.C., Mrs. Herndon was a homemaker, devoted mother and
grandmother for many years. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Paul
W. Herndon.

Survivors include two sisters, Helen Norfleet and Mildred Copeland; one brother,
Walter Garner. She also leaves two daughters, Pauline H. Hood and Shirley M.
Billups; and one son, Sherman W. Herndon; 12 grandchildren; and 15
great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Hale Funeral Home by
Bishop Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Family will receive
friends at 3108 Chesapeake Blvd. and will assemble there at noon the day of the
service.
