Born in Norfolk, ``Aunt Ida'' was the daughter of the late Henry and Nonnie Herron and predeceased by her sisters, Florence H. Raby and Gladys H. Jackson. Ms. Herron went to New York at an early age, worked in the garment district for many years and retired from home health with the city of New York. She moved back to Virginia to be with her family after retirement. Survivors include her niece, Margaret R. Shortt; grandnephews, John R. Shortt Jr. and his wife, Shirley, Kelvin L. Shortt; great-grandniece and great-grandnephews, John R. Shortt III, Voitrice Swain and Kelvin L. Shortt Jr., and Richard Speller and his wife, Evelyn, and daughters; first cousins, Rosetta S. Davis and Lessell; two very special friends, Audrey Willis and Mildred S. Brown; and a host of other relatives. She will be truly missed. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at noon Thursday in the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception by the Rev. John Dorgan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Steeple Repair Fund. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
