Norfolk Virginian Pilot Tuesday June 7, 1938
John Miles Hewitt, aged 79, husband of Mrs. Laura Murrell Hewitt, died at 
the residence, 208 East Twenty-seventh street, yesterday afternoon at 2 
o'clock after a long illness. Besides his wife, he is survived by three 
daughters, Mrs. Grace Hewitt Revelle, Mrs. Emma Hewitt Shipp and Mrs. Elsie 
Hewitt Hutcheson; two sons, Willie J. and Linwood C. Hewitt, and a sister, 
Miss Mary Hewitt, all of Norfolk; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. 
Mr. Hewitt was a native of Norfolk County, and had been a resident of 
Norfolk for 50 years.
The body will be taken from the residence to the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home 
for funeral services tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
