He was a native of Baltimore but had lived here for the past 50 years. For a long time Mr. Hewitt worked as a butcher in the City Market and was well known. He was the son of the late George H. and Fannie Woolen Hewitt. Besides his wife, Mrs. Lula Howard Hewitt, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J.D. Hollomon; three sons, C.E., V.L. and Howell L. Hewitt; a brother, Frank O. Hewitt; two sisters, Miss Hattie Petherbridge and Miss Grace Hewitt, of Washington, D.C. Funeral services will be conducted at the family residence tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
