Thomas Hickey, a white man, about 45 years of age, walked into Cashin’s saloon at the corner of Church and Union streets yesterday afternoon, about 5 o’clock, and complained of being sick. He grew worse and was sent to St. Vincent’s Hospital in the ambulance, where Drs. Hoffman and McCormick rendered all the assistance they possibly could, but the unfortunate man died within five minutes after his arrival at the hospital. Coroner Newton made an examination of the body and states that death was due to heart disease. The dead man was a cotton jammer for about thirty years. He was unmarried. The funeral will take place at 3 o’clock this afternoon. The funeral of Mr. Thomas Hickey, who died suddenly Tuesday night, took place from the deceased’s boarding house, No. 81 Plume street, yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
