Norfolk Virginian May 18, 1894

John Carl, the infant son of W.A. and M.E. Hickman, died at the residence of his 
parents, No. 23 Gibbs Avenue, yesterday afternoon at 1:40 o'clock, aged 4 months 
and 17 days.

The funeral of John Carl, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Hickman, took place 
from the residence of its parents, No. 23 Gibbs Avenue, at 4 o'clock yesterday 
afternoon and was conducted by the Rev. R.S. Baughan, of Trinity M.E. Church, 
assisted by the Rev. W.F. Watson, of Spurgeon Memorial Church. The interment was 
in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley.
