L Hichman, Shipping Man Dies Suddenly Charlton Lawton Hichman, 55, prominent here in shipping circles for a number of years, died of a heart attack last night at 10 o’clock at his residence, 1137 Magnolia Avenue, Larchmont. Mr. Hichman was superintendent of Furness Withy & Company, Limited, steamship agents, and had been associated with that firm for 42 years. His death was sudden. A native of Hampton, he had resided in Norfolk for 30 years. He was a son of the late Charles W. and Mrs. Phoebe Estes Hichman of Hampton. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Kingman MacKann Hickman, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William J. Grandy and Mrs. Harley G. Tanner, Jr.; a son, Charlton L. Hickman, Jr., all of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. John Wood and Miss Mamie Hichman, both of Hampton, and Mrs. W.R.R. Rushmore, of Plainfield, N. J.; two brothers, E. E. Hichman, of Hampton, and F. W. Hichman of Norfolk, and three grandchildren and three nephews. The body was taken to the Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover Avenue, corner Manteo Street, pending completion of funeral arrangements.
