Hickman, 66, of Largo, Fla., died Oct. 30, 1993, in a Largo hospital. Mr. Hickman was a native of Mason City, Iowa, and had lived in the Birchwood Gardens area of Virginia Beach. He was the owner of Charls Hickman & Associates. He had been a merchant seaman with service in the Korean War and World War II. He was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, where he was a member of the choir, and a volunteer teacher at the Church School. He was also a hospice volunteer, a volunteer at WHRO Public TV, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Olga K. Hickman; three daughters, Susan Gail Hickman and Patricia Jaquay, both of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Elizabeth Rich of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, Michael R. Hickman of Virginia Beach and Charles W. Hickman of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Faye Farrer of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, V. Carl Hickman of Springfield, Mo.; and five grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Star of the Sea Catholic Church by Father McIntyre. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery in Norfolk. There will be a wake service Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation.
