Frances Juanita Hickman, 86, died Jan. 24, 2004, at Harbor Point Medical & 
Rehabilitative Center after a long illness. A native of Norfolk, she attended 
J.C. Price Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. Frances was 
also one of the members of the first class of Norfolk Mission College (now 
Norfolk State University).
Frances worked for the Log Cabin Restaurant, a prominent business during the 
1930s, Mary Drews Restaurant and retired from the A&T Confectionery. She was a 
member of First Baptist Church. She was also national grand past member of the 
United Order of Tents, Star of the East No. 6.
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Juanita C. Hickman of 
Saddlebrook, N.J., Grace H. Rochelle of Fort Knox, Ky., Sylvia H. Williams of 
Norfolk and Cheryl R. Bingham of Chesapeake; six grandchildren in the personage 
of Dwayne Hickman of Staten Island, N.., Shernita L. Parker of Manassas, Va., 
Capt. Shawnette M. Rochelle of Fort Hood, Texas, Michael D. Rochelle Jr. of 
Hampton, DeSean Bingham of Chesapeake and Brianna Bingham of Norfolk; as well as 
a great-grandchild, Callahan Grace Parker; and other relatives and friends.
A wake will be held today from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Riddick Funeral Service. A 
funeral will be held Friday at noon in First Baptist Church, 418 Bute St., 
Norfolk. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
