The pastor, The Rev. M. C. Southerland, officiated. Mr. Hicks died Thursday at 5 a.m. He was an employee of the Norfolk and Southern Railway for the last 38 years, retiring December 31,1945. He was a carpenter for the firm and resided at 1304 West 43rd street. A native of Lunenburg county, he was the son of the late Henry and Mrs. Missouri Hicks. He was employed in 1907 by the late J. P. Rux, auditor for the railroad, Mr. Hicks’ father before him, having worked for the same family. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lacy Howard and a niece, Mrs. Sarah Washington, both of New York.
