Hicks of 2711 Woodland Ave. died Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in a hospital after a short illness. A native of Brunswick County, he lived in this area 60 years. He was the husband of Mrs. Louise R. Hicks and a son of the late Edward and Mrs. Fannie Hicks. He was a retired ordinanceman of St. Juliens Creek Naval Ammunition Depot, where he worked for 34 years. He was a member of First Church of Christ, Holiness, and its Trustee Board and Brotherhood. Surviving besides his widow, are two sons, Edward (Teddy) Hicks of Norfolk and Andrew L. Hicks of New York; two daughters, Mrs. Doris Waring and Mrs. Velma Oliver of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in First Church of Christ, Holiness, by Bishop David P. McPherson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge.
