A native of Atlantic, Va., he retired from Tidewater Construction in 1985 as a truck driver. He was a member and deacon at Mount Hermon Church of Christ Disciples, Norfolk, where he was a choir member and attended Sunday School. Mr. Hicks was a World War II veteran. Survivors include his sister, Victoria Thomas of Norfolk; aunts, Rebecca Myrick of Norfolk and Ann Montague of Society Hill, S.C.; nieces, Geraldine Nichols of Virginia Beach and Mary Keys of Norfolk; and a host of other nieces and nephews, family and friends. A funeral will be held Thursday at noon at 3132 Somme Ave., Norfolk, by Elder John Figgs. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Hale Funeral Home, 2100 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, is in charge.
