at Age of 48 Harry Joseph Hicks, aged 48, for more than 30 years engaged in the gas appliance business in Norfolk, died yesterday morning at 9:40 o’clock at a local hospital. Mr. Hicks was a well-known resident of Norfolk until three and a half years ago, when he moved to Princess Anne County. A native of Norfolk, Mr. Hicks was the husband of Mrs. Mary Cashin Hicks and the son of the late William F. and Mrs. Emma Lee Hicks. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and a member of the Holy Name Society of that church. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife; seven daughters, the Misses Margaret, Mary Louise, Emma Lee, Sarah Ann, Agnes, Angela and Catherine Hicks; two sons, Harry Joseph Hicks, Jr., and John Cashin Hicks; a brother, Wilton Hicks, of Raleigh, N.C. The body will be taken from the residence on Virginia Beach boulevard to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for funeral services tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the residence tonight at 8 o’clock.
