Virginian Pilot April 2, 1986

John E. Highter, of the 2300 block of Keller Ave., died March 28, 1986, in a 
hospital.
Mr. Highter, a Norfolk native and the widower of Ollie Highter, was a former 
member of Macedonia Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Gertrude Ashburn of Trenton, N.J.; four sons, 
Nazareth Highter, Alfred Highter and Alexander Highter, all of Norfolk and 
Clarence Highter of Chesapeake; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 
four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Hale Funeral Home by the 
Rev. Rayphield Clay.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.  The family will be 
at the residence.
