A native of Norfolk, Mr. Hightower was an air-traffic controller with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. Thomas AMEZ Church, Norfolk. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Wright Hightower; a daughter, Cindy Hightower Hans of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sons, Katsumi Hightower of Newark, N.J., Carl Hightower of Long Beach, Calif., and Warren Hightower Jr. of Oregon; seven sisters, Sarah B. Brown of Norfolk, Rosa Jackson of Newark, Frances B. Washington of Tucker, Ga., Ethel H. Johnson of Long Beach, Jerry H. Merritt of Norfolk, Lillie H. Riddick and Bertha H. Barnes, both of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Lonnie Hightower Jr. of Los Angeles and Rudolph Louis Hightower of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandsons, Ronnie Hans, Suan Hans, Carl Hightower Jr. and Sonny Hightower of Los Angeles; five brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ethel Lee Hightower and Lonnie Hightower. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by Dr. Cedric Kirkland Harris. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Lillie H. Riddick, 5949 Northampton Blvd., Virginia Beach.
