Joseph Andrew Hill, a well known citizen of 209 Middleton street, died yesterday morning at 5:20 o'clock, at his home after a lingering illness of several weeks. He was a native of New Bern, N.C. and was sixty-one years old. He had been a resident here for the past fifteen years. He was especially well known in marine circles and was recently in the employ of the Norva Land and Lumber Company as captain of a lumber barge operated by that company. He retired about six weeks ago on account of his health. He is survived by his wife and four children--J.H. Hill and Edward Hill of this place; Mrs. Etta Watkins of Windsor, N.C. and Mrs. Annie Day of Campostella Heights. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the above residence and will be conducted by the Rev. M.L. Bryant, pastor of Main Street Christian Church. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
