Norfolk Virginian June 22, 1894
William S. Hill was admitted to St. Vincent's Hospital Department of American 
Sailors on Monday, suffering from, besides other complaints, abscess of connective 
tissues of head. the abscess broke through at night and the patient would have 
suffocated had not Dr. J. C. Perry performed a tracheotomy. The patient lived 
twelve hours after the operation and died of heart failure.
