NORFOLK - Pernell C. Hill of the 800 block of Marshall Avenue, a retired oyster 
shucker, died April 1, 1988, in a hospital.

Mr. Hill, a native of Smithfield, Va., was a former member of Mount Zion Church 
of Holiness.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel J. Hill; three daughters, Denise C. Hill of 
Westland, Mich., and Celestine Marcus and Bernice Scott, both of New Jersey; 
three sons, Chester Hill and Leon Hill, both of Norfolk and Michael Hill of 
Decatur, Ill.; three brothers, Moses Hill, Robert Hill and Carey Hill, all of 
Norfolk; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hale Funeral Home by the 
Rev. J.D. Burrus. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be a wake 
service form 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family will be at the 
residence.
