The Norfolk Virginian Pilot September 1, 1937
George Washington Hill, husband of Mrs. Gaddie Elizabeth Hill, and son of the 
late Henry W. and Mrs. Elizabeth Collins Hill, died at 2 o'clock yesterday 
morning at the residence, 1805 Claiborne avenue.  Mr. Hill was a native and 
lifelong resident of Norfolk.  He was grand treasurer of the Grand Encampment 
of Virginia, I.O.O.F., and was a member of Washington Lodge No. 2, I.O.O.F. 
Besides his wife, Mrs. Gaddie Elizabeth Hill, he is survived by one son, Frank 
F. Sawyer; one brother, James H. Hill; a nephew, J.W. Hill, and a grandson, all 
of Norfolk.  Funeral services will be held at the above residence tomorrow 
afternoon at 4 o'clock.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
