NORFOLK - Herman Riddick Hill Sr., 83, of 2417 Everglades Road died Saturday in a 
hospital.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Madeline Irvine Hill and a son of William H. 
and Mrs. Hattie B. Hill.
A native of Sunbury, N.C., he lived in this area 67 years.
He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard S. Costigan of Norfolk, and Mrs. John T. 
Holman of Riverside, Conn.; two sons, Herman R. Hill Jr. of Darien, Conn.; and 
Irvine B. Hill of Norfolk; a brother, Sam J. Hill of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. 
Hattie Walters of Oxford, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church.
The Office of the Dead will be recited in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight 
at 7:30. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Heart 
Fund.
