Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, March 2, 1999 
George Lee Hilliard departed to his eternal resting place on Saturday, Feb. 27,
1999, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born April 15, 1919.

A native of Norfolk, he was the foster son of the late Sam and Emily Smith of
Norfolk. George served three years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He retired
from the U.S. Department of Public Health after 33 years of continuous service
as a licensed practical nurse. George was a Prince Hall Mason, Ebenezer Lodge
No. 66.

Survivors include his lifelong companion, Lucy M. Boone of Norfolk; her two
children, Clinton F. Evans of Chesapeake and Madie Evans Barnett of Norfolk;
five grandchildren, Aaron V. Evans and Stanley T. Barnett III of Norfolk, Regina
A. Barnett of Petersburg, Va., and Michael Barnett of Waldorf, Md., and Angie M.
West of Virginia Beach; a daughter-in-law, Christine Evans of Chesapeake; a
granddaughter, Angie M. West of Virginia Beach; a granddaughter-in-law, Jamy
Evans of Norfolk; and four great-grandchildren, Candace, Ryan, Leah and Aaron
Evans Jr. of Norfolk.

A homegoing celebration will be held at noon Thursday at First Baptist Church,
Berkley, by the Rev. William Tyree III. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery ,
Norfolk. All acts of kindness may be forwarded to Lucy M. Boone at 414 Craig
St., Norfolk.
