Hill, Sr., who died Monday, March 9, following a long illness. The pastor, the Rev. J. C. Diamond, delivered the eulogy. Mr. Hill had been a member of the Berkley First Baptist for nearly half a century, and was active there in both the church and Sunday school. He was also a member of Ebenezer Lodge No. 66, A.F.A.M. and a member of the executive board of Beacon Light Civic League, Inc., secretary of the Southside Barbers Association, and a highly esteemed citizen of the community. During the funeral services the choir sang two favorite hymns of the deceased, “Safe in the Arms of Jesus,” and “I Must Tell Jesus.” The Rev. Hilton C. Felton sang, “Only a Look,” and the Rev. W. B. Westbrook made eulogistic remarks. Condolences, telegrams and the family paper were ready by Mrs. Addie Pippins. Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida M. Hill; one son, Everett F. Hill, Jr.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Marian Spruiell; brother, James Watkins; sister, Mrs. Carrie Odom, and other relatives. Interment was in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery with Chatman Funeral Home in charge.
