A descendant of an old Norfolk family, she was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She attended Leachwood Girls School in Norfolk and Sweet Briar College. She was a lifelong Norfolk resident. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Frances Hitch Brock, two sons, Arthur Hitch Jr. and James E. Hitch, and a brother, James E. Etheridge, all of Norfolk; and nine grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at noon in Selden Chapel of Christ and St. Luke's Church by the Rev. Dennis Schmidt. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery with H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Christ and St. Luke's memorial fund.
