Norfolk Virginian-Pilot Sunday September 20, 1936


George W. Hitchings, aged 53, son of the late R.V. and Hattie Wade 
Hitchings, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 5 o’clock. He is 
survived by a sister, Mrs. Harry Gaskill, of Newport News, and five 
brothers, L.E. and H.N. Hitchings, of Norfolk; W.W. Hitchings, of 
Alexandria; B.J. Hitchings of Newport News, and J.J. Hitchings, of 
Baltimore, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Hitchings was a native 
and lifelong resident of Norfolk; 
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home 
tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
