Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John AME Church with Dr. J. R. Johnson, Jr., pastor, officiating. A native of Norfolk, Mr. Hodges was the son of the late Junius and Mrs. Susie Hodges. He joined St. John Church under the pastorate of the Rev. H. M. Shields. Mr. Hodges married the former Miss Susie Maben in 1924. He was employed by the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 16 years and 9 months, and was a veteran of World War I. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Susie Hodges; four sons, Howard, Junius, John, and Reginald; four daughters,Miss Vivian Hodges, New York, and Miss Madelyn Hodges, Miss Clementine Hodges, and Mrs. Neolis Backers, all of Norfolk; one cousins, Mrs. Elsie Bridgett, of Brooklyn NY, and six grandchildren. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with King's Funeral Home in charge.
