Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, May 21, 1992 
Mary Susie Maben Hodges of the 800 block of Lexington St., a retired
schoolteacher, died May 18, 1992, in a hospital.

Mrs. Hodges was born in Norfolk. She had retired from the Surry County public
schools after 15 years. She was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church and served on
the stewardess board. She was the widow of Junius Hodges Sr.

Survivors include four daughters, Vivian Hodges, Neolus Backers, Clementine
Hodges and Madlyn Whitehurst, all of Norfolk; three sons, Junius Hodges Jr. and
Howard Hodges, both of Norfolk, and Reginald Hodges of Washington, D.C.; 22
grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in St. John A.M.E. Church by the
Rev. I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The body will be placed
in church at 10 a.m. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
