Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch December 12, 1910
The funeral of Captain Edward Davis Hodges, of the Norfolk Fire Department, who 
lost his life in the discharge of his duty as a fireman occurs at 3 o'clock this 
afternoon, at his late residence, No. 20 High street, Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D., 
of the Freemason Street Baptist Church, officiating. Interment in Elmwood 
cemetery. There will be an escort of his fellow members of the fire department as 
a mark of respect to his memory.
