Virginian-Pilot September 3, 1923
James Frank Hodges, aged 64 years, died yesterday afternoon at 1:05 o'clock at the 
residence, 1416 West Fortieth street. Mr. Hodges was a son of the late Edward D. 
Hodges, one of the founders of the old Norfolk Virginian. He is survived by his 
mother, Mrs. Rebecca Hodges; his wife, Mrs. Sarah L. Hodges; seven children, Mrs. 
W. J. Monroe, Mrs. W. T. Stewart, Mrs. G. P. Rich, Mrs. Ernest Rabey. Mrs. A. H. 
Turley, Miss Elsie L. Hodges and J. F. Hodges, Jr., and by a sister, Mrs. Maggie 
West, all of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3 
o'clock at the residence. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
